Titleist, Nike, or Bridgestone Ball?

Has anyone played the Nike Ignite or Titleist NXT Extreme Golf Balls? They price is about the same for both as the Bridgestone balls. They all read like they do the same thing from each company’s website. I did like the Bridgestone E6 balls I was able to test for the most part. Just curious what feedback some others who have played them think of them.

I am a high handicapper (around a 28) so need something that has low spin. I sometimes slice, but most of the time it is a nice little fade. My chipping is improving, as well as my short game. So, I would like something that feels soft and will hold the green.

I have been using 2 piece balls like the Top Flite Super Straight XL 5000 but it feels like hitting a rock and I hate that. I’d like a ball that is a little softer feel.

Basically I need a ball that spins very little to reduce the sidespin on my ball. But, I won’t the best of both worlds and have something soft around the green. Has anyone played a
Golfblog,
I had considered the Callaway Hot but your review, as well as others I have read, don’t see to give me what I am looking for on and around the green. I guess it is more important that I play well around and on the green than to hit it longer since you only hit a driver about 14 times a round. It seems your review of the Bridgestone E6 confirmed this. Now my question is, for others, how they compare against the Nike Ignite Ball and the Titleist NXT Extreme ball?

Which Golf Balls Should I Buy? Comparison…?

I currently use the Top Flight Gamer and Nike Soft golf balls. I’ve read all of the reviews which are typically hyped up by someone getting kickbacks from their sales. I play decent golf (mid 80’s) and have been making great progress in my play but I am having difficulty finding a ball that “feels” good. I like the Nike Soft but read on the package that the ball is not intended for people who swing above 100mph, and I swing 105mph with a driver and 85mph with my 7 iron. The Nike obviously feels softer than the TF Gamer but I hit the gamer a bit straighter (less spin because of harder compression…I know the mechanics of it).

Can anyone recommend a ball that has really good “feel” as well as decent control? I have heard that the Taylormade Burners and Bridgestone E5 and E6’s are good but never hit any of them and at $30 a case, I’d rather not buy and regret. I know that I love the feel of the Titleist PROV1’s but can’t afford to go out and buy a dozen for $43 bucks (the wife would kill me). Is there anything that feels like the PROV1 and provides similar control with low irons? I am not too worried about distance as I hit fairly long anyhow but extra yards dont hurt. : )

Thanks in advance, and please tell why you think the ball is better than the Gamer or Nike Soft. Thanks again!
I have also read alot about ball construction and cover design, but that still doesnt say which ball is best. I am looking for feel and distance with moderate control. Nike seems to be the middle of the road for all of the above but which model? Thanks again and check out: http://www.learnaboutgolf.com/equipment/balls.html#more
if you are reading this looking for answers as well.

Let’s start with a question; have you ever seen or experienced a situation where one person imposed his or her influence?

Gordon had been in Iraq for just 6 months.  The rest of his regiment had made at least one tour and for some this was their third.  Hot dusty, missing home they’d tell each other stories of what they would be doing right at that moment.  Rich from Mississippi, David-New York, Pete-Vermont and Gordon from Georgia they were from all over.  As the conversations drone on Gordon’s mind wonders back to his designs.  That’s why he joined in the first place.  Just him and his Mac but its hard to feed a family with a Mac.  He was average at best but he always saw himself as a designer.  It was his passion his “calling.”  He had built a few web sites worked with a couple of magazines but it got too tough.

Propaganda was a word he’d remember hearing from the movies about WWII.  Now he was a tool of propaganda.  Phrases like “time to turn back,” “we are here to serve” have become imprinted in his mind.  How do you convince someone that has decided that their cause is worth dying for to change?  Everyday he immersed himself in the culture.  How do I connect? Does using plastic golf balls for practice improve your swing, or make it worse?

I bought some plastic golf balls with the holes in them so I could practice my swing in the backyard and actually have something to hit. Will this actually improve my swing, or will it make it worse because plastic balls aren’t like real golf balls? Thanks for the help guys.

Why Buy Used Golf Balls?

imageWhy should you spend good money on used golf balls? Golfers spend millions of dollars every year on buying new golf balls. There are dozens of brands and varieties out there. And there is only one thing that separates a brand new ball from a used one. Do you know what that is?

The first shot. That is right, as soon as you tee up a brand new golf ball, take your backswing and follow through after hit the ball with your driver, it becomes used. Every golf ball becomes a used golf ball after the first shot. So when a neighborhood kid comes along and wants to sell you an egg carton full of pre-owned balls for your golf game, why should you buy from him?

Let’s face it. There many different grades and conditions of used golf balls. Some have cuts, others scuffs, club marks, dings, discoloration or even water marks. Some are so dirty you can read the brand name. Never buy a dirty golf ball. You don’t know what blemishes the dirt is hiding.

Here are the top five reasons people to buy high quality used golf balls:

1. If you are like most people, used balls offer you a good bargain. You can get name brand balls for less. For example, instead of paying $40 for a dozen Titleist, you can buy 12 high grade used Titleists for under $15. Bridgestone golf balls can cost up to $5.00 a ball when brand new. You can get nearly perfect used Bridgestone ones for as little as $2 each.

2. Used golf balls give you the chance to play a second ball, to try a shot over, without playing an expensive, brand new ball. So, when you know that you could have hit that first shot better, try another one — as long as you keep the pace of play.

3. Used golf balls give you peace of mind when you are playing a water hole. It’s a lot easier on your wallet if you hit a bad shot and lose a ball in the water, than if you hit a brand new one.

4. The same things goes for out-of-bound holes or ones with deep rough, thick trees or lots of gorse. If you tend to slice or hook your tee shot, playing a used golf ball saves you money instead of losing a new ball.

5. Used golf balls are excellent for practice rounds or even practicing in your back yard. Plastic practice balls do only so much. If you are chipping or using a wedge, you get a better feeling when you use a real ball. And if you practice with used balls, you don’t have to worry about scuffing them up in practice.

You can buy used golf balls online to get the best deal, selection and value for your money. Just make sure that you can tell that you are getting excellent quality from a reputable seller.

If it feels like the father in your family is hard to shop for, throw a Father’s Day party with a monogram theme and tell all your guest to bring dad a monogrammed gift.  Your dad will feel super special with his initials all over.

A monogram theme also works well for a bridal shower, a birthday party or an anniversary.

Here are some other ideas to get your monogram party started:

  • Send invitations with the guest of honor’s monogram.
  • Buy a brander with the guest of honor’s initial or monogram and brand steaks and burgers before serving them.
  • Serve drinks from a monogrammed pitcher or in monogrammed glasses.
  • Buy disposable napkins with the guest of honor’s first initial imprinted on them.
  • Serve cupcakes with with the guest of honor’s initial piped on top or use alphabet shaped cookies to spell out their initials.

Some great ideas for monogrammed Father’s Day gifts include:  Pilsner, low-balls or martini glasses, beer mugs, flasks, coasters, leather catchalls (for change and keys), money clips, cuff links, key chains, cotton hankerchiefs, toiletry bags, towels, coffee mug, playing cards, polo or button-down shirts, grill tools, guitar picks, gym bags, golf towels, golf balls or golf club links.

*Monogrammed beer pitcher shown above is available at Pottery Barn for $21.50 (including cost of monogramming)
