Here are three courses in Ames that I see listed.

There are a few option in and around Ames, some really good, some really bad. Homewood and Oaks are bot in the North part of town up by the mall. Both are short, in bad shape, and not really that fun to play. There is another short one out by the Barilla plant, but I cant remember the name of it, but its pretty bad too.

Veenkner Memorial is a gem, one of the best kept secrets in the state. Its just North of campus. Try it out, its awesome. I havnt played Coldwater, its pretty new and I have heard nothing but good things about it.

The Harvester in Rhodes is about a 30 minute drive, its probably the best course in the state.

Otter Creek is a fun one down in Ankeny, as well as Briarwood. Both are about a 20 minute drive and are great courses.

State Center has a fun little course, about a half hour east of Ames on Hwy 20. All the Des Moines courses are fun too, about a 30 minute drive down there.
